Licensing, Certification and Training Updates

Due to the unprecedented COVID-19 restrictions for travel and personal interaction, the 12-month requirement for completing the skills assessment portion of the Certified Employee Training Program (CETP) is being suspended until August 1, 2020 for anyone who passed their CETP exam after March 1, 2019. For example, if a student passed a CETP exam on April 15, 2019, the student now has until August 1, 2020 to complete the skills assessment in order to receive certification.

The Vermont Commissioner of Public Safety and the Division of Fire Safety (DFS) have extended the deadline for renewals of Certificate of Fitness certifications 180 days beyond their effective expiration date. This includes Certified Propane and Natural Gas Technicians and Certified Oilheat Technicians. If your Vermont Certificate of Fitness expires in April or later this summer, you have until September 30 to get your continuing education credits and submit for a renewal. Click here to read the memo from the Vermont Commissioner of Public Safety.

Vermont licensed plumbers and electricians also have a temporary license extension. All electrician and plumber licenses that were due to expire between March 30, 2020 and September 30, 2020 shall remain valid and be deemed to expire on September 30, 2020, and any associated late fees for renewal that would have applied during that time frame shall be waived.
