Charged Up

While the vast majority of electric vehicle (EV) charging will occur at home or work, a “fast charging corridor” will need to be established if EVs are to be more widely adopted. The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program provides federal funding to states to establish this corridor. Vermont has received $21 million for this effort

The plan is to use the federal funds to put charging stations within one mile of every exit on Interstates 89 and 91 and every 25 miles along State Routes 9, 2, and 7. These must be 150kW stations capable of charging at least four vehicles at the same time. While the money will cover 80% of the cost.
